sympathy pounds

Well my pugs are obese according to the vet.

Pug's like "what I thought that roll of toliet paper was fat free?"

Frankly, I like my pugs with a little chunk to them, but I do want them to be healthy, so we're going to have to work on limiting the treats they force us to give them with their pitiful faces.

This past week our new town opened up their first dog park and so with a beautiful day we dragged the pugs from their napping spots on the sofa for some fun and forced socialization.

Let's just say the pugs were not so impressed.  Now I will give them credit, there were no other dogs in the park so it was rather boring, but what dog doesn't love hills and loads of roam to run around.  Pug basically hung out by the entrance and exit gate hoping for an escape and Landry gets the nervous runs when he's in a social situation.  So, I think boy got more exercise than any of them running around cleaning up after Landry.  After about 30 minutes we did get a playmate, but pug was way more impressed with the owner's bag she was carrying and the possibility of treats being inside.

So we left.

Sadly, it would probably take adding a sofa and a concession stand to the park impress this high maintenance duo.

{25 weeks}

{25 weeks}

So better late than never on the bump posts right.  I totally applaud my fellow bloggers that have been so on top of these.  Maybe next time right :-)  Thanks to finally finding my tripod and my two, always helpful, pugs here's this week's bump.

How far along?  25 weeks
Weight gain:  no idea...I think in total about 15 lbs.
Maternity Clothes?  for the most part all maternity clothes.  still rocking pre-preggo yoga pants and tanks, but loving the whole world of maternity clothing.
Stretch marks?  a few..very worth it though.
Sleep?  what's that again...it'd be great if I wasn't having to get up 6 times a night to pee.
Best moment of the week?  had our first baby shower
Food cravings?  papa john's breadsticks, strawberries and turkey sandwiches.
Gender?  baby boy named declan!
What I'm looking forward to?  holding this sweet baby and finishing up his nursery.
Thoughts?  I was telling hubs this week that I finally get what expecting mother's are saying when they make the comment about them being okay if their babies just want to hang out in the womb forever.  Watching the horrific bombing in Boston and then witnessing the devastation in West (especially it being so close).  I get it.  It's a lot easier to protect them and keep them safe in the womb.  So, I'm getting a glimpse that God is going to be taking my faith and trust to a whole new level with this little one and while he does we'll continue to wrap those in West & Boston in our prayers.

do you juice?

Boy has been wanting to get a juicer for awhile.  I've been the one that's holding out for a few reasons:

1.  Will we actually use it more than once?
2.   My phobia of small kitchen appliance clutter (reason the quesadilla maker & cotton candy machine had to go)
3.   Will it taste narly? (yes I use the word narly on a daily basis)

I'd say #3 is standing pretty much in my way.  For the past few years I've consistently had in our fridge a stock of V8 fusion! I love it and we go through a ton of my favorite peach mango flavor.   But anytime I go on pinterest I keep seeing loads of pins for juicing recipes that look really good and I'm thinking more fruits and veggies in our diets can't hurt.  So I'm curious, do you juice?  And if you do, do you have a juicer you'd recommend or a recipe to start with for a picky eater like myself?

P.S.  Rumor has it that we're saying adios to google reader so I'm heading over to BlogLovin'.  You can Follow my blog with Bloglovin by clicking here or clicking the Bloglovin' button to your left on the top of this page.  Thanks y'all!

we might just stay at home for his first year

We found a quick way to humble any intelligence we thought we had.

Just try and install an infant carseat.

Apparently, you need a doctorate for this.  And before you even get it to your car you've got to pick one out, which is an event all on it's own.  Have you seen how many infant car seats there are out there?  Like a gazillion.  I started researching these right away, because heaven forbid we invest in the wrong one and are kid spends the rest of his life in therapy because we didn't get the right carseat with the right fabric with the most comfortable incline.  No pressure.

I found it's almost easier to just order one online because Babies"R"Us carries a few in store there, then BuyBuyBaby has there own line and I was just too tired for that.  Free shipping was calling my name.  So I figured we'd narrow down the list, order one, try it out, and send it back if we didn't like it with the free returns.  Brilliant.

So I ordered our top pick and once it came I handed it over to boy (he has more patience than me) and told him to figure it out and then come get me and give me the demo.  When I looked over and saw him sitting on the ground flipping through the textbook of a manual I figured we might be in trouble.  Once he figured it out I got my carseat lesson 101, which after he explained aligning just the base my head started to spin and then when we got to the section on adjusting the height on the back as he grows I burst into tears and announced what a terrible mother I'm going to make.

In the end I know it will be second nature eventually.  We really like the safety features of it and how lightweight it is so we decided to keep it.

Thankfully, we made that decision before pug marked his spot on the empty box.  Let the jealousy begin.

reunited

After going 28 days without internet or cable, not that anyone was counting (oh wait I was), the cable man finally showed up at my door and reunited us with the technology world Friday.  I could have hugged him when I answered that door.  I might have even shed a tear or two when he got that phone line working.  Apparently, the combination of small town living and new construction doesn't bode well for the cable companies.  But after my own little weekend marathon with Bravo, all is well and we will now refer to March 2013 as  "The Month We Somehow Survived Without TV".

Speaking of March if you've read my blog for long you know that this is our very favorite time of the year with March Madness and cheering on our Jayhawks.  I'm sad we missed so much of it.  Next year we will be extra ready and have a new little fan here to help cheer them on.  This kid's accumulating quite a loot of KU gear already (actually before we even found out he was a boy...I would have had to round up loads of matching bows to girlie these up if he wasn't) ha!

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter.  It's my absolute favorite and we were blessed with family, good food and beautiful weather.  My mom had a very talented friend of hers make these swaddle blankets for Declan for our Easter basket.  How perfect are they?  I absolutely love them.

Also in my basket was an abundance of Dove Dark Chocolate and Peeps.  I love me some Peeps, but my favorite is to open up the package and let them stale out for a day or two.  Adds a little crunch to it.  How weird is that?  They are just so much better that way and sadly, that's not a pregnancy thing.

So happy to get to catch up on everyone's happening...if you still read despite my random disappearances y'all are the best.  Have a great Tuesday!
