A huge thank you to all the soldiers who have dedicated their lives to protect this wonderful country that we live in.  Our family is so incredibly grateful for all you do.
I hope y'all have a wonderful & safe Memorial Day weekend!

3. I need to buy jelly beans before my next meltdown.

love you, mom

birthday week

Sorry I've been slackin' a bit on the blog this past week. We've been doing some birthday celebrating around here. Boy's was the 13th & mine was the 20th. We love having our birthdays so close, makes it pretty easy to remember! However, one of us does not love having to share a birthday cake...I won't rat out who though. So, now I'm 26 and officially closer to 30 than 20. I'm slowly coming to terms with this friends.

To celebrate we headed out to the lake house to hang with my parents. We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the view. Then Sunday we said good-bye to our dear "Lost" series. Boy was disappointed in the ending, I felt it was just right... kind of a peaceful good-bye. I shed a few tears not so much for the characters, but more because of the fond memories I've had watching this series with boy and the excitement we got each January when it came back on. You know what I mean?  Do y'all have a series you like to watch with your spouse?

So it's been a busy week and one of us is still recouping from all the birthday fun. Either that or he's disappointed that Lost is no longer on.

BBQ Chicken Ravioli Recipe

Since finding out I'm lactose intolerant I've really missed the deliciousness of ravioli.  Oh that ricotta is some good stuff is it not?

Well, I got to playing around in the kitchen and came up with a sauce-less ravioli recipe that is super easy & satisfies my ricotta craving.  My favorite thing about this recipe is you can easily add ricotta so my cheesy hubs can have his fix without making an entirely new meal.  I posted it on the Tasty Kitchen, so go -here for the recipe.  The recipe includes ricotta, but when I make this meal for us I add everything except the ricotta then take out half the mixture for me, put in half the amount of ricotta the recipe calls for then mix it back up and put together those raviolis.  You just have to keep track of which batch is which and I do not add Parmesan to mine.

Now if only someone could come up with a cheese-less Cheez-It I'd be complete.

memo to pug #7

RE: Hazardous Chew Toys

Dearest Pug,

We've had some recent complaints that your over abundance in squeaky toys and their sneaky placement in dark hallways is becoming somewhat hazardous.  For example, someone who may or may not be writing this memo, happened to be carrying a large amount of books across the room when she ever so gracefully tripped and fell on a giant squeaky hippo, landed on said books and now sports a rather ugly batch of bruises.  We appreciate your cooperation with keeping the work area safe for all.

Love the hand that feeds you,
girl

true confessions

This sweet blogger posted a fun little confessions list on her blog and I'd thought I'd copy her idea because, well my days spent doing a major cleaning on my house has been rather uneventful.

1. Boy turns 28 Thursday and the fact that in 2 years he will be 30 makes me nervous.

2.  What makes me even more nervous is that in 9 days I turn 26 and that means I'm over half way to 30.  We're getting old.

3. Speaking of birthdays...I do not like being sung to at restaurants especially the ones that make you do something stupid.  A roomful of strangers staring at me while I flap my my arms and turn red.  No thank you,  I'll buy my own dessert.

4. I love strawberry snow cones.  We've made an embarrassing number of trips to the local snow cone stand already this year.

5. The show Private Practice annoys me because I have yet to see a one stop shop practice where you can have a baby then go to a therapy session without leaving the office, but yet I still seem to watch it.

6. I bought Full House on DVD recently and am discovering that everything I learned, I learned from Full House episodes.  I heart that show.

7. Okay, that last ones an over exaggeration.

8. Speaking of confessions, I grew up Catholic and when I was in the 3rd grade our class had to go to confession with the priest.  I was so intimidated and couldn't think of anything so I told him I pushed my brother.  I did not have a brother, but he never knew.

9. I'm a stickler for thank you notes or even a quick thank you e-mail.

10.  I really want to be a mom.  One day.

happy mama's day!

In honor of Mother's Day I thought I share with you a little about my own mama...

1.  She's my best friend.
2.  She loves the Lord.
3.  She hands out the best advice even if you don't want to hear it.
4.  She was my matron of honor in my wedding because I couldn't imagine her not standing by my side as I said "I Do".
5.  She makes the world seem right with her hugs.
6.  If you pretend to not be able to find something, she'll find it for you. (thanks dad for this tip)
7.  She cannot resist picking up a chubby baby...we've sat in many a restaurants waiting on her in the bathroom only to learn she was holding a baby for a mom who needed to go.
8.  She has the best laugh.
9.  She's taught me how to take those bad situations and make something wonderful bloom from it.
10. For 12 years she successfully & literally dragged my hiney out of bed every morning.

And that's why I love her so and why my day is not complete without talking to her at least once.

And if you haven't seen this Mom Song clip, you absolutely must today.

a hot mess

I've been rushing to finish up some spring projects before the giant heat wave moves in over Texas and drains my will to do anything constructive outdoors. How people lived in Texas without AC long ago brings tears to my eyes because I can't even make it across the Kroger parking lot without breaking a sweat and looking like a hot mess.

Speaking of hot messes.

This was one of my many projects that may or may not have been taking up precious space in the garage for over a year and a half.

It's a sewing table that clearly can't find it's way back to the 70's.

But I needed a sewing table and it was FREE, so as Tim Gunn would say "make it work".

Thank goodness for a paint lift. Now I just need to find a spot for this little pretty.

miscellaneous bin

1. Boy and I decided to be spontaneous Friday afternoon and loaded some work, a laptop and a pug into the car and headed to the park to enjoy the gorgeous day. The weather was perfect! We did learn that it's rather hard to share a park bench with a squirmy pug who insists he was not made to lounge on grass. Oh what a funny site we three must have been on that bench. Needless to say not much work was accomplished.

2. I've learned in the spring of 2010 that I am an allergy sufferer. Honest to blog I haven't swallowed or breathed through my nose in days. I finally called the doctor today and got in for some allergy stuff and my other list of aliments. Bless my docs heart to put up with my webmd degree ha! I'm sure people that spend loads of money and time on med school love when their patients self diagnosis online.

3. I ordered Angie's book this week and within a day had it read. Such an amazing read. Do pick it up if you haven't read it; oh and toss in a box of kleenex... you're going to need it. I blamed that last one on the allergies.

4. My e-mail account was hacked into today and sent out some mass e-mail to my address book. Oh the joy and awkwardness. I'm praying that those in my address book still love me after today. I did make a little trip to the apple store to make sure it wasn't a bug and then on my way out fell in love the with iPad. It's even cooler than I thought.

5. And tonight my heart breaks for all my Tennessee friends out there. My prayers are with you!
