movie dream house

I could spend all day on this website...Hooked on Houses...oh wait I do sometimes! I was browsing the other day and was thinking if I could have one movie house, what would it be? Ha, I know never gonna happen, but a girl can dream right?

It's down to 2 (oh wait thought of one more) ...so hard to pick.

Baby Boom Vermont House

Father of the Bride House

and I do LOVE the California house in The Holiday!

table set for two

I've been looking for some new everyday dishes for sometime now. We have a collection of Pottery B@rn's {Sausalito} dinnerware, which I love, but it's huge and fills up the dishwasher way too fast so I usually save it for company. I fell in love with the {Great White Dinnerware} also from Pottery B@rn, but not loving the price. While in Wally World this weekend I browsed through their dinnerware and found these.

They feel and look just the Pottery B@rn ones I wanted, but way cheaper! Gotta love that. Has anyone else noticed how they are really popping up with some great housewares products? I might not be able to whine about going there anymore ha!

another post about food

We got the call this weekend.

The Girl Scout Cookie call. Can we take a moment for the wonder of these cookies.

{pause}

Okay, so I don't have much of a sweet tooth. That's why I can stand to have a candy jar filled to the brim in my kitchen {fill it with chips and we may have a problem}, but I LOVE Girl Scout Cookies.

This year is our littlest cousins {H} first year in the scouts. This weekend she called me up for her "official" sales call.

Me: Hey Miss H what's going on?

H: Hey, I'm selling cookies do you want to buy some?

Me: Of course, what kinds do you have? (I refrained from telling her she doesn't need to really answer this because I've had the cookie menu memorized before she was even born)

H: Well we have some caramel kinds and some other stuff.

Me: Okay well let me see (I'm calculating in my head how many boxes to freeze this year. I need a box now, a few boxes for boy and then of course you can't forget about the emergency supply for you know the hormonal purposes where these particular cookies and lifetime movie make the world right again. So you have to factor in those and times that by 2 to come up with a total). Okay I've got my order...

{give it to H}

H: Is that all?

Me: What do you mean is that ALL? I just bought 100,000 calories worth of cookies.

This kid knows I'm weak.

girl vs. boy: the diet

Grocery shopping for boy and I always cracks me up. I'm sure the checker can't decide if I'm feeding a family of health nuts or a sugar addict ha! I thought I'd reveal my pantry so together ladies we can cry at the male metabolism. It's so not fair!

By the way boy has LOST 5 pounds this month...he blames it on the oreos.

book shopping

What are you reading? I always love to hear what you all are reading at the moment. Y'all give great recommendations.

Here's my nightstand right now.

Just Read: "What Difference Do It Make?"- Kind of a follow-up to "Same Kind of Different as Me" which I just loved. I had no idea this book even existed. Someone gave this to me for Christmas and it's wonderful...it's even autographed. I was so pumped! This is a such a great read!

Reading: "A Thousand Splendid Suns"- This has been on my list FOREVER! Finally picked up a copy and am already having a hard time putting it down.

To Read: "The Friday Night Knitting Club"- Been on the list for awhile too. Now that I'm knitting I might even enjoy it more! Ha!

I have to add that I finished "The Help" over Christmas and it was AMAZING! Add it to your list if you haven't read it yet.

this week I

...celebrated Big Daddy's aka my dad 60th birthday with a little {beach} soiree. mom surprised him with a family trip to the beach later this year. his face was priceless.

...I am reminded once again how blessed I am to have such an amazing dad. not enough words to express that.

...I baked cupcakes for the party...and dropped the pan losing a few precious caloric-awesomeness on the way down. The survivors we're still good.

....finished my knitted scarf.

...I prayed for those in Haiti...my heart weeps.

...kept warm with a sleeping pug on my lap.

...went to wal-mart at 11 at night one day with boy.

...said twice in wal-mart I wish I had a camera when coming across a few candidates for peopleofwalmart.com.

...laughed with boy till it hurt.

next week...i'll be a better blogger.

move over grandma

this girl has finally learned how to knit!

I have been dying to learn how to for years...you can check out this post from 2007 where my first attempt resulted in tears and a rather crafty yarn sculpture. Well for Christmas my mom got me a knitting dvd for leftys and I totally got the hang of it.

So, right now I can knit scarves, and some scarves and oh yeah more scarves.

Any knitters out there?

Oh be still my puppy loving heart

While browsing around Etsy the other day I found this adorable site...ilickyou (how funny is the name too).

Oh the cuteness is killing me I tell you.

Pug SO needs this.

And you know I love it even more when a pug models it.

Not Our December

Instead of just blogging about our December, I thought it would be more entertaining to toss it into a "Not Me" list inspired by Mckmama's Not Me Mondays {always so cute}. Trust me when I say it was uneventful, but will at least explain my blog absence.

1. I did not get diagnosed with a wicked case of gastritis the first week of December, and it did not take trying four different medications to find one that worked. Oh the pain.

2. The medication that did give me some relief was not the one that insurance only partially picked up. Merry Christmas to me.

3. We did not come down with the flu. And probably did not catch it from the multiple doctor's visits.

4. The Christmas tree may or may not have made it's appearance along with half the decorations until December 14th.

5. Upon putting the tree up boy did not declare this would be the last year for a Christmas tree after spending 2 hours fixing the bottom half lights. He does not say that every year.

6. Pug did not eat 2 lights off the Christmas tree. I'm not waiting for him to light up.

7. My flu did not turn into a sinus infection & bronchitis the week of Christmas.

8. I did not watch "A Christmas Story" 3 times back to back on Christmas day. Oh Ralphie!

9. I have not said more than five times this month that I want to get another pug.

10. I have not been told more than five time this month NO! Boy also agrees with that no.

Although a rather painful and exhausting month, we felt so blessed to get to have a wonderful {snowy} Christmas spending it together and with our families.

new year... new resolution

Hello sweet bloggy friends! Happy 2010! It's been way too long since we last chatted. I was almost afraid if I went any longer I might forget how to work blogger ha!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and fun New Year's. I'll save a post on my past month for another time and jump right into my New Year's Resolution because I'm anxious to share. Last year I posted this New Year's Fashion Resolution ( a fashion trend I'm going to avoid) and I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking with it seeing as how I'm not very good at keeping up with things like watering plants, ironing and returning rented movies on time and so forth.

So keeping up with my tradition I present my 2010 Not Gonna Wear Resolution...

Don't hate me if you're a fan...

The BUMPIT!

Yes ma'am, it was a toss us between this and open toed boots. Now I love teasing a little volume in a low ponytail, but I figured since I'm ghastly fearful of walking around with objects hidden in my hair (because I'd die if it fell out in my public) this would be the wiser and more achievable choice.

And that dear friends is what I will NOT be wearing in 2010.

Happy New Year!!
